Deobrat Mishra is one of the most energetic and innovative Sitar artists in India. Refinement, melodic and rhythmic complexity are some of the features of his lively style of playing.

Born in 1976, he represents the 11th generation of the Benares Gharana tradition.  As a child, he studied Tabla with his mother, Pramila Mishra, granddaughter of the well-known Tabla player, Prandit Baiju Mishra. He started to study vocal music with his father at the age of five and began his Sitar training a year later. That same year, after six months of practice, Deobrat performed on stage for the first time. Five years later, he played for All India Radio.

Since 1994, he has been touring throughout Europe with his father.  In that Same year, he won an award as best young Sitar player of India. In 2000, he received the jewels of Sound Award in Mumbai. His projects include music workshops, solo performances for radio and television, international annual tours and world music concerts with Indian and European artists. He is also the organizer of cultural events and coordinator of didactic work at the Academy of Indian Classical Music, the school he founded in 2006 along with his father, Pandit Shivanth Mishra.

Deobrat received a MS degree in Sitar from Prayag Samiti in Allahabad. He is visiting professor at Conservatory of Vienna, Conservatory of Milan, University of Sussex and University of Chichester in England. Pandit Deobrat Mishra performances bring donation to Benares Academy of Indian Classical Music School
