Yoga for Anxiety
with Kathleen Dowd, C-IAYT
Wednesdays | 8:30-9:45am
3-week November series: 11/4-18

If you've ever felt anxious or overwhelmed you know how debilitating it can be and how it can impact so many aspects of our lives - from our physical wellbeing, to emotional balance, and even our relationships with friends and loved ones. We may feel an inner struggle just to breathe fully and show up as our fully expressed authentic selves as we go about our day. In times of heightened anxiety, both individually and collectively, it can be difficult to connect to our bodies and our breath and yet that is oftentimes exactly what is needed to help calm us. While many yoga classes can leave us feeling more grounded, this specialized series is perfect for anyone feeling anxiety or feelings of overwhelm and who struggles to navigate life when these feelings arise.

Using tools from a trauma-informed yoga perspective, as well as nervous system care we will explore myriad ways to meet what arises in our bodies when we experience anxiety and the numerous sensations that accompany that experience. Each class will include yoga asana, breathwork (pranayama) and some guided connection to the body at various levels of our being. The series is appropriate for all levels of practitioner. If you would like to deepen your understanding of how to use the tools of yoga to lessen the grip of anxiety on your life, this series is for you.
